Kris Crenwelge, a recent staff writer on the CBS action-adventure spy comedy True Lies (20th TV), is an alum of the Disney Writing Program and the Native American Showrunner Program. She also staffed as a writer on Spirit Rangers (Netflix), nominated for 10 Children’s and Family Emmys, and People of the West, an educational docuseries on the history of Native Californians.
Raised in Houston by her rocket scientist dad and maternal grandmother, Kris writes about non-traditional families and how that connection makes you stronger...but can also drive you nuts. Her development projects include a kids’ animated series for the Chickasaw Nation and a pilot for ABC Comedy/20th TV.
Kris earned her master’s degree in Sports Administration from Ohio University. Prior to TV, she lived in eight countries, worked for two NBA teams, and ran her branded content firm, producing projects for 20+ pro and college sports clients.
An instructor and mentor for the Native American Media Alliance, Kris began her comedy career at The Groundlings; was an essayist for O, the Oprah Magazine; and her book, Growing Up With Granny: A Survivor’s Guide, won Roadmap’s manuscript competition.
Kris lives in Los Angeles with her husband and their much-loved rescue pup, Linus.
